About midwifery

Go beyond the birth of babies. Study midwifery to meet the psychological, emotional, physical, social and spiritual needs of women in maternity settings such as hospitals, birth centres, community agencies and at home. In doing so, you’ll become a critical thinker and reflective lifelong learner – one who displays clinical competence through independent and collaborative practice.

Continuity of Care Experience

Gain critical experience and support a pregnant woman and her family during your studies. A unique feature of undergraduate midwifery studies at ACU, the Continuity of Care Experience will see you accompanying women through pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period, across both hospital and community settings. You’ll forge an ongoing relationship from initial contact through to the weeks after birth, giving you real-world experience and preparing you for your post-ACU career.
